Congratulations to Eldon Mustang Sara Rhine. She won the girls class 3 state High jump competition with a Jump of 5 ft 7 in. She also had three good attempts at 5 ft 8 in. The state record is 5 ft 7 1/2.
The Eldon FFA Chapter recently returned on their annual “Top 30 Trip”. This fun educational tour is for the top 30 most active FFA members this past year. Members made tour stops in Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma. Their first stop was in Joplin where members had the opportunity to meet other FFA members & plant a memorial tree on their school grounds. They then moved on to Texas where they toured Exclusive Genetics (PBR Bull Training Facility). Fort Worth Stockyards and Cowboys Stadium was an all-day event in the Dallas area the next day. In Oklahoma the chapter had very emotional tour of the Oklahoma Memorial Bombing. The last stop on the trip was with Owasso FFA Chapter right outside of Tulsa. Members of the Eldon Future Business Leaders of America chapter earned 21 FBLA Business Achievement Awards. There are four levels of leadership achievement awards, each consisting of the following business, education and leadership elements. These areas are integrated into the FBLA-PBL goals, programs, and partnerships; aligned with NBEA standards; includes integrated classroom activities; takes into consideration the strategic needs at each level of association; in conjunction with and influenced by current business practices and corporate needs.
Ten Future Awards were earned. This award focuses on basic business skills, introduction to community service, and FBLA involvement at the local level; entries are certified by the local chapter adviser. Awards winners received pins and a certificate at the local level. The following members were awarded the Future Award: Sydnee Bishop, Baylee Bledsoe, Amber Bungart, Jessica Bungart, Austin Catron, Joey Hanes, Dakota Jones, Jordyn Schmidt, Maddie Scrivner, and Lucy Wilson.
Seven Business Awards were earned. This award focuses on local and regional/district and state involvement; intermediate business skills; and leadership in the community. Awards winners received pins and a certificate at the local level. Members must have received the Future Award in order to receive the Business Award. The following FBLA members were awarded the Business Award: Madasen Balch, Meriah Dinwiddie, Sarah Hees, Dakota Jones, Maddie Scrivner, Taylor Wall and Amber Bungart.
Three Leader Awards were earned. This award focuses on local, regional/district, state and national involvement; advanced business skills, and community leadership. It requires a presentation portfolio submission, to include a resume, interview evaluation and verifying documentation of activities completed. Award winners received recognition at the FBLA State Leadership Conference on April 22. The following FBLA members were awarded the Leader Award: Leah Simpson, Morgan Varner, and Taylor Wall.
One America Award was earned. This award focuses on pulling together all aspects of business. Members must utilize social media tools, enter a report at district contest, and prepare an online portfolio. Bradley Dinwiddie will receive this award at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas this summer.
This is the seventh year the Eldon FBLA chapter has submitted members to receive the FBLA Business Achievement Awards. The Eldon FBLA chapter is sponsored by Shelly Henderson and Jerri Haley.

On May 9th, many FFA members participated in the Highway Trash Pick-up. This community service project is planned twice a year.
On May 4th, two Eldon FFA members participated in the State Agriscience Fair at the Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia. They each presented their projects displays for several judges through an interview process. Melinda Groves (left) received 2nd place and alternate for Nationals in Animal Sciences Division 1. Rachel Groves competed in Division 2, Animal Sciences and received 2nd place and alternate for Nationals.

Students in the Desktop Publishing class at the Eldon Career Center recently competed to redesign the logo for the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant. Twenty-seven students put forth their best design skills with the chance of winning a monetary prize and their design to be featured on the Miss Missouri website. Students used the skills they had developed in Adobe Photoshop to design the logos. Forty-eight designs were submitted and three finalists were chosen by the pageant board. The three finalists were Olivia Sparks, Austin Catron, and Brianna Archer. The winning logo was designed by Olivia Sparks. Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant board member, Wendy White presented Olivia with a check for her wining logo. Olivia’s design can be found at http://www.missmissouri.org/.
