Successful Basketball Season Ends

The 2011-2012 Basketball season has come to a close, but not without great success.
The girls finished the season with a 21-5 record which was the most wins since 1990 and a share of the Conference title. Although the girls lost their first district game, they accomplished many things this season. Along with the Conference title, they won the Stover Tournament, the Crocker Tournament and placed 2nd in the California Tournament. This years group of seniors began their High School careers with 7 wins on the Varsity level. They led a great turnaround in the program. For that Megan Humphrey, Rachel Jones and Nikki Halderman deserve your congratulations if you have the chance.

The boys also had a tremendous season. They were within a few minutes of winning a District title, but fell short on Friday night. The boys finished the season with a 21-6 record, including an undefeated conference championship. They also became the first varsity boys team to defeat Blair Oaks in any sport for several years. Along with these accomplishments, the boys finished 3rd in the Eugene Tournament, won consolation in the California Tournament and placed 1st in the Eldon Tournament by defeating Marquette in the championship. This was a great year for the boys as they also had a chance to play for the District title for the second straight season.

The boys and girls are already beginning to prepare for the next season, but would first like to thank you all for your support. The home crowds we had this season were spectacular and had a major effect on the students and their performances. Thanks again.

The success of the students should mean many post season honors for our players. It is an exciting time in Eldon basketball and we will hope to continue that again next season.

Its main focus is to bring an end to extreme poverty and hardship endured by lack of educational support. The Foundation has a dual mission to provide support for quality education in the United States and establish a school in Malawi, Africa. All that are involved are dedicated to enriching the lives of children and giving them the tools to achieve their goals.

The Hamels foundation is Co-founded by Cole and Heidi Hamels.

Cole is a starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was the 2008 World Series and National League Series MVP. His wife Heidi, taught Physical Education at the Eldon Middle School for one year, and competed on the CBS reality televison show “survivor”. They and their two sons, Caleb and Braxton currently reside in Philadelphia.

On Friday night the Hamels Foundation presented a check to the Eldon School District in the amount of $50,000.

Eldon Schools is currently utilizing the football field that was constructed in 1959. The Hamels Foundation grant will allow the school district to complete a new sports stadium. By giving back to the Eldon community the Foundation will directly impact the lives of thousands of kids for years to come and bring back a sense of Mustang Pride.
