Madasen Balch, Taylor Wall and Leah Simpson from the Eldon Career Center FBLA attended MISSOURI BUSINESS WEEK, an interactive summer conference for 200 high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. The conference teaches students how to manage and market a business in an enjoyable environment.
To simulate the business experience, the MBW student companies are involved with the management and marketing of imaginary retail products (hats or T-shirts). The groups learn how to make management decisions by playing a computer game that follows the financial history of their products through eight business quarters. Marketing is accomplished through the production of 30-second television commercials, new business profiles, a trade show and websites. Students compete for the best marketing strategies and bottom line.

Taylor Atkinson, 15, of Olean, received First place FFA Showmanship in the 16 and under category at the 2011 Missouri State Fair on August 15. Taylor is the daughter of Mark and Dawn Atkinson and is a sophomore at Eldon School.
Thomas Kriegshauser, 16, of Eldon, received Reserve Grand Champion Cow/Calf in the 4-H Jr. Angus show at the 2011 Missouri State Fair on August 11. Thomas is the son of Michael and Susan Kriegshauser and is a student at Eldon High School.
