Joplin Student Fund

The Joplin Student Fund has been set up at Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks to benefit the students of the Joplin R-8 School District.  Any monetary donations can be given at any CBOLO location (Main Bank, Lake Ozark, Camdenton, Eldon, Laurie, Wal-Mart in Camdenton, KK, or Wal-Mart in Osage Beach.), or mailed to: CBOLO, PO Box 354, Eldon, MO 65026.    A check will be presented to Dr. C.J. Huff, Superintendent of Schools, to be used to buy exactly what is needed for the students. 

It is our privilege to help out these kids and families in need during this terrible time of devastation.  Our hearts, as educators, go out to all in Joplin.  Please pass this information all to all your friends and contacts.

Joplin Schools Suffer Significant Damage

 The Joplin schools have sustained extensive damage from Sunday’s tornado, including damage to the high school, career center, east middle school, district offices. Superintendent C.J. Huff  appreciates all of the emails regarding offers to help, but right now, prayers are what he and the residents of Joplin need most. A donation to the American Red Cross will help those directly impacted by this disaster.  Text REDCROSS to 9099 to make a $10 donation or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Officials in Joplin are still assessing the damage and searching for missing people. Members of the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) are in Joplin helping with the media and media inquiries.

Mustangs Named to All District Team

The following players were named to the Class 3, District 9 All District Baseball Team:

Cannon Carlock, John Hall and Joseph Limbach.  Dustin Headeick received Honorable Mention.

Mustang Baseball plays in Semi Finals

Eldon will be playing Marshall at 7:00 pm tonight (Tuesday) at Ashland in a semi final game for district play.

PAVE AmeriCorps Application Workshops

Application workshops for all PAVE AmeriCorps service opportunities will be held on Thursday, May 12 and Thursday, May 19 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm at the Eldon High School Media Center, 101 S Pine Street in Eldon.

Mustangs move on to State Golf Championship

Congratulations to Jon Helms and Braden Atkinson for making the All-Sectional Golf Team.  They will compete at the state golf championships on May 16 and 17.

State TEAM Industrial Technology Contest

Friday, May 6, EHS  &  EMS  students competed at the State TEAM Ind Tech contest held at the Lodge of the Four Seasons.

Results at State contest are a combined score of a written test given on site and the project score.  Entries are the best from 9 districts in Missouri.  All entries at state had to win their division at a district contest.

 High School had two entries that received special recognition as receiving 100/100 points on their projects.

Baseball Game Moved to Eldon

Eldon vs Stover Baseball has been moved to Eldon tonight (Friday May 6, 2011).

Games begin at 5:15 p.m. at McMillian Field.

Track Meet Rescheduled

The Middle School and 9th Grade Conference track meet that was scheduled for tonight (Thursday, May 5) has been rescheduled for Tuesday May 10 at 4:00pm @ Osage
